Janey & Finito

I have known Martina since 2011 when I liveried my two horses at her training yard.

I am now fifty six and have been involved with horses intermittently for forty six years. I was always taught “the English way.”  Be kind but get results by domination on one hand and be driven by emotion and guilt on the other.

In hindsight I can say even though I had a deep love for them, I never really understood equines.

Martina changed my life with her understanding and empathy of horses.

I became fascinated by the way she communicated with the horses in her care and amazed by their response to her. Even the most difficult ones that came for rehabilitation began to open up and trust her. She never dominated them just communicated naturally.

She kindly involved me more whilst training and taught me to listen and respond to what my horses were telling me. It was life changing and amazing.

After three years I bought a pure bred Spanish horse that had had a terrible start to his life in Spain and was mentally very scarred. He was on the verge of being shot. With a massive amount of guidance from Martina we turned Finitos life around and at this moment he is in Ireland being filmed for the well know television series ‘Game of Thrones” WOW!

Martina taught herself about horses and how they think, react and respond. She is captivated by their spirit and has a deep, deep love for them.

Martina has got to be one of the best horsewomen I have ever come across, she has a calmness even in what seems, the most terrifying moments. We asked Martina to to take our two Dartmoor x ponies to continue their learning and teach them a few manners. Magic and Merlin were both very green, she had them for three weeks during which time I had lessons on them, Martina taught me so much and gave me the confidence to ride them and to enjoy them. They both came back different ponies.

Our biggest challenge was Medina, a beautiful Gypsy Vanner mare. She was a 5 yr old and had only been handled with the head collar and some light grooming. She was a hard nut to break and even Martina thought at one point she would never be suitable for my husband. However after 3.5 months of sheer hard work and gentle determination she has come good. Martina has instilled a quietness to the mare, she totally relies on human contact for reassurance. Without Martina's skill we would never have had this mare back home with us. I would recommend anyone who has any problems with their horse or just needs to learn, how to understand and handle their horse properly to get in touch with Martina, it has been an amazing journey and we have made a great friend.

SUE & SUNNY

Four years ago I decided to get back into horse riding, I wanted to give Western riding a try and Martina had just started teaching locally , I found my first lesson very enjoyable and Martina explained everything really well. Since then I have been having lessons regularly with her , she has a real understanding of horses ( and humans ) and has been a huge help with buying my two quarter horses. I can thoroughly recommend her as a teacher, she has a lot of patience and pushes me just the right amount without making me feel uncomfortable with what I am doing.
